English has been recognized as the language of international communication in Ukraine at the legislative level!

Recently, the Verkhovna Rada adopted draft law No. 9432, promoting the use of English in Ukraine.

What the new law provides:

• Expanded use of English in the military, medical, and transport systems, as well as in the cultural sector.
• Mandatory English classes in senior kindergarten groups, high schools, vocational schools, and universities across Ukraine.
• Financial support for cinemas showing English-language films.

Additionally, the new law specifies positions where knowledge of English is mandatory. If you aspire to be a police officer, civil servant, employee of a state scientific institution, or a teacher at a higher educational institution, proficiency in English is essential.

These changes are expected to be a strategic step towards EU membership and to enhance Ukraine’s tourist and investment appeal. The study of English by Ukrainian citizens will be financed through state and local budgets, as well as other legal sources.

For over three years, Hope – Children of Ukraine has been providing children from low-income families and those affected by the war in Ukraine with free English lessons from professional teachers. Thanks to educational volunteers and donations from individuals and businesses, we are constantly expanding the project, creating additional English study groups, encouraging more children to learn the language, and providing our students with high-quality educational materials.
