Our teachers are not just professionals — they are mentors and emotional supporters at the same time. We spoke with our leading teacher, Ms. Oleksandra, about her work.

— Oleksandra, how is working with children affected by the war different from regular teaching?

— The difference is enormous. Grammar is not the priority — the child’s emotional state is. We begin each lesson not with tests, but with a conversation about how the child feels, using English as a tool. I must be ready for the fact that a child may be tired or distracted because of shelling. Flexibility, patience, and positive reinforcement are my main methods.

— What tools do you use?

— We integrate elements of art therapy and mediation into the lessons. For example, we discuss neutral, positive topics like future professions or travel to help shift attention away from traumatic experiences. Our online lessons also allow children to study at a convenient time, which is important when daily life is unpredictable.
