Vyshyvanka, or Embroidery shirt, holds a special place in Ukrainian culture. Our ancestors believed that hand-embroidered shirts could protect form misfortunes.
Traditionally, on the third Thursday of May, we celebrate Vyshyvanka Day, which serves as a reminder of the importance of preserving our cultural heritage and unites Ukrainians across the globe.
It’s heartwarming to witness the younger generation embracing and cherishing traditions that have been passed down through the ages.
Today, students of the Hope – Children of Ukraine English language courses proudly worn their most beautiful embroidered shirts as they attended their classes.
Many of these children now find themselves living far from their homeland.
Their lives were turned upside down by the harsh realities of war.
Yet, they remain steadfast in their Ukrainian identity, carrying our cultural legacy wherever they go. We are incredibly proud of you! You are the future of Ukraine! Happy Vyshyvanka Day, dear friends!
